Ferrer-Aza and Muller Dominate Zandvoort Endurance Legends Opener
Fabrizio Ferrer-Aza and Alexander Muller claimed a commanding overall victory in the opening Masters Endurance Legends race at Zandvoort, converting a blistering start into a controlled win aboard their Chevrolet Corvette C7.R Daytona Prototype.
The pair immediately established themselves at the front of the field after the start and remained the benchmark throughout the 40-minute contest. Despite a late Safety Car period bunching up the pack, Ferrer-Aza and Muller handled the restart perfectly and crossed the finish line after 22 laps with a margin of just over six seconds.
Behind them, Marlon Birdsall and Mex Jansen secured second overall in their BMW M6 GT3 after another strong run, while Danny Baker recovered from an early spin to bring his ORECA 03 home in third place overall. Baker’s moment came five minutes into the race when he spun but successfully rejoined without losing too much ground.
The race featured several incidents away from the front. Thomas Ambiel was handed a drive-through penalty for a Yellow Start Procedure infringement shortly after the opening lap, while contact between Ambiel’s Duqueine D-08 and the Porsche of Ash Muldoon and James Kellett was later noted by Race Control. The mandatory pit-stop window opened midway through the race before a late Safety Car intervention neutralised the field with less than eight minutes remaining.
Among the Masters Endurance Legends 2 competitors, Karl Pedraza emerged as the leading finisher in his Ligier JSP320, securing the category victory with an impressive fourth-place finish overall. Neil Glover and Michael Lyons followed as the second-best MEL2 crew in their Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, while Thomas Ambiel recovered from his earlier penalty to complete the MEL2 podium despite his eventful afternoon.
Following the final restart, Ferrer-Aza and Muller were never seriously threatened, sealing a convincing victory to begin the Zandvoort Historic Grand Prix weekend in style.

Ferrer-Aza and Muller Complete Zandvoort Double in Masters Endurance Legends
Matteo Ferrer-Aza and Alexander Muller completed a dominant weekend at Zandvoort by securing a second consecutive victory in Masters Endurance Legends. The Holthoff Car Performance pairing once again controlled proceedings in their Chevrolet Corvette C7.R Daytona Prototype, leading the race and setting the fastest lap on their way to victory.
Race 2 ran entirely under green flag conditions, with only minor incidents interrupting an otherwise clean contest. Danny Baker spun his ORECA 03 at Turn 10 early in the race but was able to continue, while Karl Pedraza briefly visited the gravel late on before rejoining.
In the Masters Endurance Legends 1 field, Ferrer-Aza and Muller headed an all-prototype top two, finishing ahead of Danny Baker’s ORECA 03. Third among the MEL 1 runners were Marlon Birdsall and Mex Jansen, whose BMW M6 GT3 once again proved the benchmark GT3 entry in the category.
The battle at the front of the Masters Endurance Legends 2 grid saw Karl Pedraza produce another impressive performance in the Ligier JSP320 to finish second overall and comfortably lead the MEL 2 contingent. Thomas Ambiel followed in the Duqueine D-08, while Ash Muldoon and James Kellett completed the MEL 2 podium positions aboard their Porsche 991.2 Cup car after a strong and consistent drive.
Further down the order, Witt Gamski and Ross Wylie received a ten-second time penalty for pit-lane speeding in their Bentley Continental GT3, as did Hein Koopman in the BMW Z4 GT3. The penalties did not affect the final outcome of the race.
At the front, however, there was little doubt about the dominant force of the weekend. Ferrer-Aza and Muller once again set the pace from start to finish, completing a perfect Zandvoort sweep with two victories from two races.
