Historic GP Zandvoort 2026: Masters Demo Legends

Adding to the atmosphere of the Historic Grand Prix Zandvoort weekend, Masters Demo Legends gave spectators the opportunity to see a selection of iconic Formula One machinery from the 1980s and 1990s return to the track during two demonstration sessions held across Saturday and Sunday.

The showcase featured three historic Grand Prix cars representing different eras of Formula One development, with the emphasis firmly on celebrating the sound, speed and engineering of a golden age of the sport rather than outright competition.

A major attraction for fans was the appearance of former Formula One driver Martin Donnelly, who took part throughout the weekend aboard the Footwork Arrows FA14. Donnelly, whose Formula One career included starts with Arrows, Lotus and Larrousse, remains one of the most recognisable figures from the era and drew considerable attention whenever he took to the circuit.

Joining the demonstration on Saturday were Benjamin Monnay in the striking March 871 Leyton House and Felix Haas in the March 781-2, adding further variety to a display that spanned more than a decade of Formula One history.

While no competitive timing was involved, the Masters Demo Legends sessions provided a fitting tribute to the cars, drivers and engineering innovations that shaped Formula One between the late 1970s and early 1990s. The sight and sound of these historic machines circulating around Zandvoort proved a popular addition to the weekend programme, offering spectators a rare chance to experience Formula One heritage in motion.
